[BUG] Ctrl+o (show detailed transcript) does not stream

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Latest Claude Code version, using Windows WSL2 terminal (Ubuntu).

when I go into ctrl+o "show detailed transcript" mode, it does not stream Claude's output. I have to continuously toggle it back and forth to get it to refresh, so I can see what Claude is doing. This is a very poor user experience because Claude tends to do a lot of the work and file updates in secret in the normal mode and hide them from the user, and if I'm trying to review all of the code changes Claude is making as it makes them, having to toggle back and forth continuously is not a feasible solution.

In saying all of this, I feel like this used to work in a streaming fashion anyway, so perhaps this is a regression. Or maybe I'm imagining that, either way, it's something that should work in a streaming fashion. If this was done as such because you're worried about scrolling, a pause on this screen (perhaps ctrl+p toggle) could be used to toggle it on/off (but default to on is the behavior most would want, I believe).

What Should Happen?

Stream Claude's work/output rather than freeze the terminal output
