I got a simillar issue on WIN 11 and Mac. Tried it on different Windows and Mac Clients.

When i open a new claude code chat in a local folder, type somehting in (doesnt matter what) it instantly says "Failed to load session"

What is there to load if its a new chat? I reinstalled Claude on all different devices, several times and it still gives me the same error. I cant work like that, and its quite expensive for a max plan to have such an error.

Sign out and back in, restart nothing solves it. Every new chat gives me the same error, even if i choose a different folder. Doesnt matter if its empty or has files in it..

same issue happened to me

and the only thing im findig about this issue in whole goolge is this one Github post.. So we probably have to wait a long time till claude suppport decides to take a look...

saaaaaame. i was surprised to see the dates were all tonight. i got frustrated enough to look it up. guess we all did lol

oddly enough, works fine on my mac right next to it. it's just in windows claude code side that it's doing this.

Yeah the thing is, my already open chat works just fine. Just when i open a new one that error comes. With luck 1-2 days later it works again. But mostly, nevermind if on mac or win, a new chat just brings me that message

I am having this issue, however this affects both new and old chats, on both normal chat and Claude code.

Hey man, at least on Windows it seems ur soloution is working!! Thanks a lot. On mac i gotta check.

I suspect a lot of different things can cause this error, but for me it was simply not having Git installed. Just in case that helps anyone.

Same error from Windows on desktop. Claude Chat is doing fine including accessing web browser, etc. but code always gives that error in response to any prompt

Found a workaround: Code -> Click on new session and select the exact same settings as your non-working session (same enviroment, branch, repo). Then don't do anythng but click on the old session, which should now load.

Experiencing this on the claude.ai/code web UI when trying to load a remote control session.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Have an active Claude Code CLI session running via SSH on a remote Linux server with remote control enabled
2. Visit the session URL directly in a browser: https://claude.ai/code/session_<redacted>
3. Page shows "Failed to load session"

Environment:

• Claude Code CLI 2.1.97 (native) running on Amazon Linux 2023 (aarch64)
• Git 2.50.1, Node v22.22.1 installed
• Working directory is a valid git repository
• The CLI session itself is working fine — remote control is active and functional
• The session link just doesn't load in the browser

This may be a separate variant from the Desktop app crashes reported above — this is specifically the web UI failing to load a valid remote control CLI session URL.
