Option 3 Tell Claude what to do differently not working

What's Wrong?

I questioned Claude and got this reply

Question, when you give me options i.e. 1 yes... 2 yes everytime... etc and 3 No tell claude to do
something else, option 3 isn't selectable but is shown

Response from Claude:
● You're right - that's a known UI issue with Claude Code's permission prompts. Option 3 ("Tell
Claude what to do differently") is displayed but the selection only cycles through options 1 and
2.

To work around this:

• Press Esc to exit the prompt entirely, then type your alternative instructions directly
• Or select option 1/2 and then provide different instructions in your next message
