[Bug] Vi edit mode Esc handling conflicts with agent interruption in queued message editing

Bug Description
Editing queued messages in vi mode doesn't work well with vi edit mode. In vi edit mode you need to hit Esc to return to vi command mode where you can use shortcuts. However, if the agent is working, this interrupts them. From the context of I am editing a message in my message queue, the Esc should be interpreted as a desire to enter vi command mode. Once in vi command mode, Esc should be treated as a request to interrupt the work.
