Environment
Claude Code 2.1.266, darwin-arm64, terminal CLI.
Steps
- While a turn is running, type three or four messages, each submitted with Enter, so they queue.
- Press Esc once.
Observed
- Esc interrupts the turn and delivers exactly one queued message, shown as
[Request interrupted by user]followed by that message. - The others stay queued, and each further Esc press interrupts again and delivers the next one.
- Four queued messages cost four interruptions.
- The model answers the first message before it has seen the rest, which are corrections and follow-ups to it.
Expected
One Esc delivers every pending message together, in order, so the model reads the whole batch before acting. A message typed after the interrupt would queue normally.
Related
#87656 asks for a setting to hold queued messages until the turn ends, and #73661 asks for one turn per queued message. Neither covers the interrupt path.
