Problem Statement

I run several projects at once, and each one ends up with a few Claude Code sessions plus the subagents they spawn. I kept losing track of which session was doing what, which one was waiting on me, and where each project stood. I was spending more time managing sessions than thinking about design and architecture.

Projects fixes part of this, because each project now has a coordinator. But I still have to go into each project one by one to see what's happening and what needs me.

Proposed Solution

A hub that sits above every project's coordinator and works as a personal assistant across all of them, all day and overnight.

I tell the hub what I need in plain words. It passes the work to the right project's coordinator, keeps things moving while I'm away, and only comes back to me for the decisions that are mine, like pushes, deploys and anything that costs money. Questions and results from every project come back through the one hub, so I have one place to talk to instead of one per project.

I built a working version of this for myself as an open source plugin, hivehouse: each project has an orchestrator with its own agents in tmux, and one hub above them acts as my assistant. It could be a useful reference for how this might work in Projects: https://github.com/Cleveland-RD/hivehouse

Alternative Solutions

I tried keeping one terminal per project, and then one Project per codebase, but I was still the one going into each of them to check progress and answer questions. OpenAI is going in this direction with dots, but I'd much rather have it in Claude Code.

Use Case Example

  1. I have four projects running: a Word add-in, its marketing website, a client portal, and our company website.
  2. In the morning I tell the hub: "fix the sign-in bug in the add-in, add the new pricing page to the website, and check why the portal's export is slow".
  3. The hub sends each task to that project's coordinator, and they start their own threads in parallel.
  4. During the day the add-in project asks whether to change the database, and the website project has a page ready to review. Both come to me through the hub, and I answer there without opening either project.
  5. Overnight the projects keep working, and in the morning the hub gives me one summary: what's done in each project, what's waiting on me, and what's blocked.

Additional Context

Related: #100714 (send messages into a Project by name), which a hub would build on. Happy to show a short demo of how hivehouse does this today.
