Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Since the 2026-10-14 update to Claude desktop 2.37337.1, every session row in the Code tab sidebar:

  • starts with a </> glyph;
  • shows the status dot (grey / blue / orange) on the right edge instead of the left.

</> carries no information here: every session in the Code tab is a Code session, so the same glyph repeats on every row and only adds visual noise.

The status dot is the one per-row signal that matters (idle / working / needs attention). On the left it formed a column you could scan at a glance; at the right edge it is out of where your eye starts reading and much harder to spot.

Honestly, this is getting in the way of actual work. I run several Code sessions in parallel and the sidebar is how I see which one finished or needs me. After the update I keep scanning the wrong edge of the list, and a column of identical </> glyphs flickers in my peripheral vision all day for no reason. It's a code tool — I know my sessions are code. Nobody asked for this, there's no setting to turn it off, and it isn't in the changelog.

What Should Happen?

Put the status dot back on the left and drop the </> glyph in the Code tab (show a type icon only where sessions of different kinds are mixed), or add a setting to choose. Please stop reshuffling the sidebar under people who use it eight hours a day — or at least give us a toggle.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Update Claude desktop to 2.37337.1 (macOS).
  2. Open the Code tab.
  3. Look at the session list in the sidebar: every row starts with </>, and the status dot is at the right edge.
