[BUG] Desktop (Code tab): after sending the first message, the new session starts in the background and the empty composer stays focused

What's Wrong?

In the Code tab, when I type the first prompt in the new-session composer and press Enter, the session is created and starts running, but the view stays on the empty new-session composer. I have to switch to the new session manually (sidebar or Ctrl+Tab). Chat and Cowork tabs are not affected.

What Should Happen?

After Enter, the app should switch to the newly created session.

Evidence (~/Library/Logs/Claude/main.log)

Prompt sent around 02:05:29; I waited ~23s before switching manually at 02:05:56.

    02:05:07 [info] [CCD] LocalSessions.setFocusedSession: sessionId=null
    02:05:29 [info] [CCD] LocalSessions.setFocusedSession: sessionId=null
    02:05:33 [info] LocalSessions.start:
    02:05:56 [info] [CCD] LocalSessions.setFocusedSession: sessionId=null
    02:05:56 [info] [CCD] LocalSessions.setFocusedSession: sessionId=local_682bcdcf-6aa8-44ea-b5e5-89bec1a3c291
    02:05:56 [info] LocalSessions.startShellPty: sessionId=local_682bcdcf-..., cols=80, rows=24

The session is started at 02:05:33, but setFocusedSession is never called with its ID until I switch manually at 02:05:56.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Code tab → New session (Cmd+N).
  2. Type a prompt and press Enter.
  3. Observe: the new session appears in the sidebar and runs, but the empty composer stays on screen.

Environment

  • Claude for Mac 2.37337.1 (ba51ab), Oct 13, 2026
  • macOS
  • Reproduces every time [edit if intermittent]
