Summary
On Windows, preview servers started from the Code tab are stopped after 30 minutes of idle time. There is no setting to turn this off, so a server started with preview_start cannot stay up.
Evidence
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Claude\logs\main.loglogs[WarmLifecycle:preview] Starting idle timeout ...: 1800s.- After 30 idle minutes it logs
[WarmLifecycle:preview] Idle timeout reached, disconnecting ..., followed by[Preview] Stopped servers for worktree. Examples: 2026-10-09 16:27:24, 2026-10-09 21:34:11, 2026-10-10 01:26:27. - The stopped server then shows as "was stopped by the app" in
preview_list.
Request
Add a setting (Settings → Claude Code, or a launch.json option) to turn the preview idle timeout off, so preview servers run until the user stops them. A configurable timeout value would also work.
