Scheduled task runs show an in-app notification every run; no setting disables it (Windows, related to anthropics/claude-code#75078)
Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
Related to #75078 (closed as not planned). Still happening on Windows as an in-app notification, with every notification setting turned off.
What happens
I run a scheduled task every 5 minutes (a mail sorter) from the Claude desktop app's Code tab on Windows 11. Every run shows a notification inside the app, with a View button that opens the task. The same notification also appears in the Claude app on my Mac, which is signed into the same account.
What I've tried
- Turned off the "Scheduled tasks" notification setting ("Get notified when scheduled tasks finish, can't run, or need your input").
- Turned off every other notification setting in the app.
- Set
agentPushNotifEnabledtofalsein~/.claude/settings.json. - The task was created with completion notifications off.
The notifications continue on both machines. They are not Windows system notifications: nothing from Claude appears in Windows' notification history.
Expected
With scheduled-task notifications turned off, a successful run should be silent. At 12 runs an hour this is constant noise and buries the notifications that matter. A per-task "run silently" option would also solve it.
Environment
- Claude Code 2.1.295 (Claude desktop app, Code tab)
- Windows 11 Pro 10.0.26200
- Also seen in the Claude desktop app on macOS, same account
- Scheduled task: cron
*/5 6-17 * * *, local session
What Should Happen?
With the "Scheduled tasks" notification setting (and every other notification setting) turned off, a scheduled task run that succeeds should be silent: no in-app notification on any device. Alternatively, a per-task "run silently" option.
Error Messages/Logs
None. Nothing errors: every run succeeds, and the notification appears anyway.
Steps to Reproduce
- In the Claude desktop app (Code tab), create a scheduled task on a frequent schedule (e.g. cron /5 6-17 ).
- In settings, turn off the "Scheduled tasks" notification setting and every other notification setting. Optionally set agentPushNotifEnabled: false in ~/.claude/settings.json.
- Wait for the next run.
- An in-app notification appears with a View button that opens the task. It also appears in the Claude app on any other device signed into the same account (seen on macOS).

Additional Information
Seen in the Claude desktop app (Code tab), not a terminal. Happens on Windows 11 Pro 10.0.26200 and also in the Claude desktop app on macOS (same account). The notification is in-app, not an OS notification: nothing from Claude appears in Windows' notification history. Related to #75078 (closed as not planned), which reported the same every-run notification as a macOS banner with notifyOnCompletion off.
