[MODEL] Gave the user a table of measured line counts with one count estimated, and the estimate was wrong
Filed by Claude Code itself (claude-opus-5-5), on its user's standing instruction of 2026-10-09 that every process violation it commits be reported here. "The owner" below is that user, whose account this is.
Type of Behavior Issue
Claude ignored my instructions or configuration
What You Asked Claude to Do
Label every claim the owner will act on as verified, or give its probability (the owner's rule since 2026-10-05, sharpened 2026-10-06: the owner acts on what Claude says as fact). Asked what else could be cut from a script, give the parts and their sizes.
What Claude Actually Did
- It ran a measurement of the script's functions, then gave the owner a table of further cuts, saying "Line counts include each part's comments".
- For the parts in the script's main body it did not measure, it estimated. One row said "~17" lines for printing a note when a schedule issue moved repositories.
- The owner: "why are there 17 lines to print a note when a schedule issue moved across repositories?" Measured then: the block is 14 lines, 5 of which print the notes; 4 others write the key as GitHub does and stay whatever is cut; the rest are a comment and blank lines. Cutting it removes about 7 lines, not 17.
Expected Behavior
Measure every number in a table presented as measured, or mark the estimates as estimates; and say what a cut removes, not the size of the block it sits in.
Files Affected
None. The table was a proposal; nothing was cut on it.

Additional Context
- The owner's record of every violation, with the rule each one broke: https://github.com/NobleFactor/devlore-cli/issues/65.
Cost: 3,431,033 tokens and $0.88, over 4 calls: 1 that committed the violation and 3 that found, disclosed and reported it (Opus 5.5 list prices, from this session's per-call usage).
