[BUG] Desktop app dictation stays on 'Listening…' with no live text on one Windows PC; full text only appears after stop
Summary
On one Windows PC, the Claude desktop app's built-in dictation (mic button) stays on "聞き取り中…" ("Listening…") the whole time I speak. No partial text appears while speaking. When I press the button to stop, the full transcript is inserted at once.
Until about 09:25 local time on 2026-10-10, words appeared live while I spoke on this same PC. Since then it happens every time.
Where it happens
- Claude desktop app: both the Code tab and the Chat tab
- claude.ai opened in Chrome on the same PC
Where it does NOT happen
- Windows voice typing (Win+H) on the same PC: words appear live in the same input box.
- Another PC with the same account (Windows 11 24H2, Claude app 2.26454.2): the mic button shows words live while speaking.
Environment
- Windows 11 26H2 (build 26300.9550)
- Claude desktop app 2.31226.1 (same symptom after rolling back to 2.26454.2)
- Microphone: built-in array mic (Intel Smart Sound Technology). Same symptom with a USB headset mic.
Already tried (no change)
- Restarting the app; restarting Windows (3 times)
- Clearing the app's cache and local storage
- Checking mic permission, input level and mute
- Turning off the antivirus web protection
- Switching to a different network (phone tethering)
Additional observation
In the app's dictation logs, final transcript segments arrive from the server during recording. But no endpoint event (TranscriptEndpoint) arrives during recording (transcript_endpoint_count = 0). The text is only committed after I stop. It looks like partial/final text is kept in the interim buffer and never shown until stop.
