What happens

/btw <question> typed in the Claude iOS app into a Remote Control session, while that session is busy with a turn, is not run as a side question. It reaches the running turn as an ordinary mid-turn user message (plain text /btw test from the phone), so the main agent sees it as part of the conversation instead of a separate side answer that leaves its work undisturbed.

The 2.1.285 changelog says /btw works over Remote Control, so this looks like a regression or a gap for the mid-turn case.

Expected

The same as in the terminal: /btw answers the side question without adding it to the running turn's conversation.

Steps

  1. Start a Claude Code session with Remote Control (Linux, Claude Code 2.1.294) and give it a long-running task.
  2. While it is working, from the Claude iOS app open that session and send /btw test from the phone.
  3. The session receives it as a normal user message inside the running turn (Claude Code shows it as text the user sent mid-turn); no side-question answer appears.

Environment: Claude Code 2.1.294 on Linux, Remote Control; Claude app for iOS (current App Store version, October 2026), Max plan.
