61 desktop Code sessions show 'Session not found on disk' after directory rename

Description

Sessions created Jan-May 2026 in the Claude desktop app (Code tab) lost their transcript link. The session metadata exists in claude-code-sessions/ with correct cwd paths, but they lack a cliSessionId field and are flagged transcriptUnavailable: True. The corresponding transcript files do not exist in ~/.claude/projects/, local-agent-mode-sessions/, or anywhere on disk.

These sessions predate the current transcript storage system - they have no cliSessionId, gitAnchors, or toolSurfaceSnapshot fields that newer sessions have. The issue may have been triggered or surfaced by renaming ~/Documents/Hackerspace to ~/Documents/Hackerspace.nosync and running remap_claude_paths.py, but the transcripts appear to have been unreachable before the rename.

Environment

  • macOS Darwin 27.0.0
  • Claude desktop app (Code tab)
  • 61 affected sessions, ~110 working sessions
  • Sessions created between 2026-01-23 and 2026-05-27

Expected behavior

Sessions should open and display their conversation transcript.

Actual behavior

Clicking a session in the sidebar shows "Session not found on disk" with options to Import CLI sessions, Archive, or Delete.
