Problem Statement

The desktop app lets me organise sessions into sidebar groups, but those groups don’t appear on claude.ai/code or mobile. My cloud sessions all sit in one flat list.

Requests:

Show the desktop sidebar groups on claude.ai/code and mobile, kept in sync both ways.
Let me create, rename and reorder groups on claude.ai/code.
Let Claude manage groups from cloud sessions, the way it already can for local sessions in the desktop app.
Or, at minimum, show session tags in the sidebar and let me filter by them.

Proposed Solution

Store groups on my account, not on one device.

A group has an ID, a name, a sort order, a collapsed state, an optional colour, and timestamps.
Every session (local, cloud, Remote Control or mobile) can belong to at most one group.
On first sync, the desktop app uploads its existing local groups.
Show the same groups in every sidebar.

Desktop, claude.ai/code and iOS show the same collapsible groups.
I can create, rename, reorder, collapse and delete groups, and drag sessions into them, on any of them.
Changes sync both ways. If two edits clash, the last write wins.
“Ungrouped” holds whatever isn’t in a group.
Give cloud sessions the sidebar tools that desktop sessions already have.
Cloud sessions get the same tools as the desktop’s ccd_sidebar server: list, create and rename groups, and move sessions between them.

That way I can say “organise my sessions” in any session and get the same result.
Optional: rules that group new sessions automatically.
For example, “repo cdwilson127/CWNXT → CWS / ERPNext” or “working directory contains TimeApp → Time App”.
New sessions, including ones started by Routines, would land in the right group.
Keep the edge cases simple.

Pinned stays separate from groups. Pinning a session shouldn’t remove it from its group.
Archived sessions keep their group but are hidden unless the archived filter is on.
A Remote Control session and the local session it mirrors should appear once, not twice.

Use Case Example

Use case

I run three separate projects with Claude Code:

EDR-TV: a broadcast overlay app for sim racing. This is most of my sessions: regression testing, themes, the replay overlay and release smoke tests.
CWS / ERPNext: switchboard manufacturing ERP work. This covers ERPNext, the drawing tools, the image upload app and EPLAN.
Time App: an internal timesheet app on a local server.

I move between devices all day:

Morning, at my desk (desktop app): I start local sessions for EDR-TV testing. My desktop sidebar is sorted into “EDR-TV · Active”, “EDR-TV · Needs follow-up”, “EDR-TV · Done”, “CWS / ERPNext” and “Time App”. I can see at a glance what’s live.

On the workshop floor (iPhone): I start cloud sessions to check a CWNXT ERP issue or plan a feature, and I check on the EDR-TV sessions that are still running. The iOS list is flat, with 100+ sessions in date order. “EDR broadcast regression fixes”, “CWNXT platform ERP audit” and “League plan pricing setup” sit next to each other, so I scroll and guess.

Back at the desk: the cloud sessions I started on my phone show up on desktop under “Ungrouped”. I drag them into groups by hand, and none of that sorting reaches the web or my phone.
Asking Claude to tidy up: from a desktop session, I asked Claude to sort my sidebar. It created the five groups and filed about 100 sessions in a minute. When I asked the same thing from a cloud session, it couldn’t, because cloud sessions have no access to groups. It could only offer workarounds: tags I can’t see, or editing every title.

What I want: a session I start on my phone for CWNXT lands in “CWS / ERPNext”, or I can drop it there. That’s then true on my desktop, on the web and on my phone. Any Claude session can keep it organised for me, not just desktop ones.

Why it matters: I lose time every day looking for the right session. I sometimes start a duplicate because I can’t find the original. Follow-ups go missing because the “Needs follow-up” group only exists on one machine.
