Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing requests and this feature hasn't been requested yet (for the VS Code extension)
  • [x] This is a single feature request (not multiple features)

Problem Statement

In the VS Code extension, session groups are listed in the order they were created, and nothing moves a group. The group menu offers New group, Rename group and Delete group. Putting a numbered set of groups in order (00 Company OS, 01 Finance, 02 Operations, 04 Amazon, ...) means deleting the groups, recreating them one by one in sequence, and moving every session into them again.

Proposed Solution

Let me change the order of session groups in the Claude Code sidebar of the VS Code extension: drag a group header, or "Move up" / "Move down" in the group's menu.

Alternative Solutions

A "Sort groups by name" option would also cover numbered group names. Today's workaround is to delete and recreate the groups in the wanted order, then move the sessions again.

Priority

Medium - Would be very helpful

Use Case Example

A sidebar with one group per department, numbered: 00 Company OS, 01 Finance, 02 Operations, 04 Amazon, 04 Amazon - Listings, 04 Amazon - PPC, 07 Customer Experience, 08 Partnerships, 10 Tech-IT. A group created later lands at the bottom of the list, so the list cannot follow the numbering.

Additional Context

  • Extension 2.1.285, Windows 11.
  • #70104 (reordering and pinning of session groups in the sidebar) is closed as completed with desktop labels. I could not find an open request for the VS Code extension; if one exists, please link it and close this one.
