Environment: Claude Code VS Code extension 2.1.288 · VS Code 1.137.0 · Windows 10 22H2 (build 19045)

Steps to reproduce

  1. In the Claude Code panel, paste 3-4 screenshots into the prompt box (PrintScreen, then Ctrl+V).
  2. Open one of the attachments and drag the image out to the Windows desktop (to reuse it in another session).
  3. The file is saved on the desktop, but back in VS Code the attachment preview stays open and its close (X) button does not respond. The mouse shows the drag "hand" cursor over the whole window, and the window no longer accepts input.

Result
The only way out is to close the window/project, which throws away the unsent text in the prompt box. This has happened to me many times. The last time, the unsent draft was about 27,000 characters (hours of work). I only got it back by reading the VS Code renderer process memory with a script.

Expected

  • Dragging an attachment out of the prompt box should not lock the panel.
  • The prompt box should keep unsent drafts (for example in webview state or workspace storage), so that a freeze, reload or crash does not lose them.
