Problem Statement

In the Claude Desktop app's Code tab, sessions with new activity are marked with
blue or orange dots. When I run many sessions in parallel, the list gets long and
I have to scroll through the whole thing to find which sessions have a dot.
This makes it slow to see which sessions actually need my attention.

Proposed Solution

Add a quick toggle (e.g. a bell or dot icon in the session list header, or an
"Unread" option under the existing Status filter) that temporarily narrows the
list to only sessions that currently have an unread or attention dot.
Turning the toggle off restores the full list.

Ideally the filter would update live, so a session disappears from the filtered
view once I've read it, and appears when a new response arrives.

Alternative Solutions

  • Sorting by last activity helps somewhat, but sessions with dots are still mixed

in with recently active sessions that I've already read.

  • An external tracker using hooks (Stop / UserPromptSubmit) can list sessions

waiting for me, but it can't open the corresponding session in the Desktop app
with one click, so it doesn't really solve the problem.

Priority

Medium - Would be very helpful

Use Case Example

  1. I start 8-10 Code sessions working on different tasks.
  2. Several of them finish while I'm working on something else.
  3. I click the "Unread only" toggle and immediately see the 3 sessions that have

new responses, without scrolling through the full list.

  1. I open each one; as I read them, they drop out of the filtered view.

Additional Context

This filter would depend on the dots being reliable. Related issues:

  • #64193 (yellow dot doesn't clear after reading, Windows)
  • #51831 (sessions stay marked unread after being viewed)
