Summary
Since the Claude desktop app updated to 2.19675.0 (installed 2026-10-01), external
dictation apps can no longer auto-paste their transcript into the Claude input box.
The dictation app reports "Couldn't paste automatically" and leaves the text on the
clipboard. Manual Cmd+V into the same box works.
Environment
- Claude desktop 2.19675.0, macOS 26.2 (Apple Silicon)
- Dictation: ChatGPT desktop app voice input (26.917.51856), unchanged since 2026-09-22
Steps to reproduce
- Click into the Claude desktop input box (chat or Code tab).
- Start voice input in the ChatGPT app and speak.
- Stop dictation.
Expected
The transcript is pasted into the Claude input box, as it was before the update.
Actual
A "Text copied - Cmd+V to paste / Couldn't paste automatically" toast appears and
nothing is inserted. Pressing Cmd+V manually inserts the text.
Notes
- The same dictation app auto-pastes fine into every other app on the same machine.
- Not caused by Secure Input (no process holds it).
- Already tried: quit and relaunch Claude, toggle ChatGPT off/on under
Privacy & Security > Accessibility, relaunch ChatGPT. No change.
- Worked earlier the same day, before the app restarted into the new version.
