[BUG] Unable to disable or alter random "working" gerund status messages

Resolved 💬 3 comments Opened Oct 18, 2025 by kenturley Closed Oct 22, 2025

What's Wrong?

I see a lot of feature requests for this but they are all closed with no resolution. I want to be able to silence the cute gerunds that display when Claude Code is working. When in the corner of your eye, the changing text is highly distracting. Can you please just standardize on "Working," or else, if another phase of processing has been entered, then show that with a descriptive, meaningful word: Working,Analyzing,Generating.
I'm filing this as a bug because some documentation implies DISABLE_NON_ESSENTIAL_MODEL_CALLS may do this but it has no effect.
I've found Claude Code to be superior to all other coding agents. Removing the distracting rando gerunds will make it that much better. Thanks!

What Should Happen?
