What were you trying to do?

GitHub integration: repo/branch file browser always empty for private org repo,
despite complete authorization chain.

Setup verified:

  • Claude GitHub App INSTALLED on both the org (ASD-Center) and the personal

account (phoenixasd2026) — both show "Installed" in Claude settings,
synced successfully.

  • User authorization PRESENT: Claude appears under GitHub → Settings →

Applications → "Authorized GitHub Apps" for the user.

  • GitHub side shows the app token as "Never used" — the integration never

makes a call.

  • Claude settings → "Check repository status" for ASD-Center/lumen-fw: green,

"cloud sessions can work in this repo".

Symptom:

  • In chat, "+ → Add from GitHub": the repo ASD-Center/lumen-fw appears in the

selector, but the branch/file browser below stays permanently EMPTY.
"Add repository" then produces a chat where Claude has no access and falls
back to anonymous API calls / git clone (which correctly fail on a private
repo).

  • Same behavior in brand-new chats and in Project knowledge ("Add from GitHub").

Control test: making the repo temporarily public makes content readable via
anonymous clone (so no network issue); reverted to private immediately.

Already tried: disconnect/reconnect the GitHub account in Claude settings;
new chats; org OAuth policy checked.

Expected: branch/file browser populates for the private org repo, as per
"Use the GitHub integration" help article.

What happened instead?

no repo view
