Environment

  • Claude Code in the Claude Desktop app (Code tab), macOS (Darwin 25.6)
  • Same account and same project folder as the terminal CLI

Expected
The built-in Claude Design MCP tools available in the terminal CLI (list_projects, list_design_systems, create_project, finalize_plan, list_files, copy_files, …) should also be available in the Desktop app's Code tab.

Actual
In the Desktop app they are missing. ToolSearch finds no match for copy_files / list_design_systems. The only design-related tool exposed is DesignSync, which is restricted to /design-sync and has no copy_files / list_design_systems.

Impact
Skills that orchestrate Claude Design prototypes (create a project from a design system, copy template files, iterate) work in the terminal but fail in the Desktop app. Users have to switch back to the CLI.

Repro

  1. Open the Desktop app → Code tab, in any folder.
  2. Ask Claude to call list_design_systems or copy_files.
  3. The tool doesn't exist. The same request works in claude in a terminal.
