Preflight Checklist
- [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
- [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
- [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code
What's Wrong?
Claude Desktop build 2.16120.0 does not work on macOS 26.6.2. The app hangs/crashes
inside Electron Framework / IOKit shortly after launch. The same happens when
running the app under Rosetta.
What Should Happen?
The app should launch and run normally on macOS 26.6.2.
Error Messages/Logs
### Environment
- **Claude Desktop:** 2.16120.0
- **macOS:** 26.6.2 (build 25G83)
- **Hardware:** MacBook Pro (Mac16,6), Apple M4 Max, 64 GB RAM
- **Architecture:** Apple Silicon (arm64)
- **Rosetta:** Tested; same behavior when running the x86_64 binary
### What I've Tried
- Created the required log directory manually:
Bash
mkdir -p ~/Library/Logs/Claude
- Verified that the directory exists and is owned by the current user.
- Launched Claude normally through Finder and with `open -a Claude`.
- Launched the executable directly from the terminal.
- Ran the x86_64 binary under Rosetta; it exhibited the same behavior.
- Verified the application signature with `codesign`; the signature is valid.
- Verified the application with Gatekeeper; it is accepted as a notarized Developer ID application.
- Confirmed that no existing `~/Library/Application Support/Claude` directory was present to remove.
- Claude either crashes with `EXC_BAD_ACCESS` or exits immediately with status code 1 before displaying a window.

### Workaround
I am using [claude.ai](https://claude.ai) in the browser in the meantime. On macOS, it can also be installed as a standalone web app using **Safari → File → Add to Doc**
Steps to Reproduce
- Install Claude Desktop 2.16120.0 from claude.ai/download
- Launch the app on macOS 26.6.2
- App hangs / crashes in Electron/IOKit
- Same result with "Open using Rosetta" enabled
