What's Wrong?

Claude.ai can discover my private GitHub repository in "Add from GitHub", but the GitHub connector cannot read it.

GitHub account:
TtomSt

Private repository:
TtomSt/dentflow

Public repository:
TtomSt/ai-advisory-board

Observed behavior:

  • Authentication succeeds as TtomSt
  • Public repo TtomSt/ai-advisory-board is readable
  • Private repo TtomSt/dentflow returns 404
  • Repository search through the connector only returns the public repository
  • "Add from GitHub" can see and select TtomSt/dentflow
  • Selecting the repo inserts the repository URL into the chat
  • When Claude uses the GitHub connector, the private repo is still not visible

GitHub-side configuration:

  • The normal "Claude" GitHub App is installed
  • Repository access is set to "All repositories"
  • TtomSt/dentflow is covered by that installation

Separate connector behavior:

  • "Claude Github MCP Connector" appears under Authorized GitHub Apps
  • It does NOT appear under Installed GitHub Apps
  • GitHub previously displayed:

"Claude Github MCP Connector has not been installed on any accounts you have access to."

This creates the following behavior:

Public repositories:
WORK

Private repositories:
FAIL with 404 / invisible to connector

I have already tried:

  • disconnecting and reconnecting the GitHub connector
  • starting a fresh Claude chat
  • using + → Add from GitHub
  • selecting TtomSt/dentflow directly
  • authorizing Claude Github MCP Connector again
  • verifying the normal Claude GitHub App has All repositories access

The issue persists.

This appears similar to:
#91416
#79083

What Should Happen?

After selecting TtomSt/dentflow through "Add from GitHub", Claude should be able to read the repository tree and file contents through the authenticated GitHub integration.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Use a personal GitHub account with a private repository
  2. Install the Claude GitHub App with All repositories access
  3. In Claude.ai, open a new chat
  4. Click + → Add from GitHub
  5. Select TtomSt/dentflow and main
  6. Add the repository
  7. Ask Claude to list the root-level files
  8. Claude invokes the GitHub connector
  9. Connector authenticates successfully as TtomSt
  10. Private repository returns 404 / is not visible
