Summary: The VS Code extension's @-mention picker ignores the fileSuggestion setting. The command-line version honors it.

Environment: Claude Code 2.1.284, Windows 11, VS Code extension panel.

Setup

  • Workspace root is a git repo (no remote) that ignores nested sub-repos (Snowflake/, aws/, crm/, local/) in .gitignore.
  • .claude/settings.json at the top level:
"respectGitignore": false,
"fileSuggestion": { "type": "command", "command": "python C:/Users/Zach/GitHub/CloudPlatform/.claude/file-suggest.py" }
  • The script lists the files of the root repo and of each nested repo.

Expected: typing @0006 in the extension panel lists Snowflake/scripts/installs/01ADV/00006xx_*.sql.

Actual: the panel says "No files found". An empty @ shows only the 6 files the root repo tracks.

Comparison: the same @0006 in the command-line version, in the same folder, returns the expected files. /doctor reports that all settings files parse and that fileSuggestion is configured.
