Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

Environment:

claude-desktop 2.7032.0 (.deb, /usr/lib/claude-desktop)
Kubuntu / Ubuntu 24.04.5 LTS, KDE Plasma, KWin on X11
Kernel 6.8.0-142-generic

Problem: The main window often can't be minimized. It minimizes and comes straight back, or the minimize button appears to do nothing.

Diagnostics:

There is a single top-level window (WM_CLASS "com.anthropic.claude", "com.anthropic.Claude"), frameless (_MOTIF_WM_HINTS decorations = 0), type NORMAL. _NET_WM_ALLOWED_ACTIONS includes _NET_WM_ACTION_MINIMIZE.
No KWin window rules apply to this window class.
Minimizing through the window manager (xdotool windowminimize <wid>) sets WM_STATE to Iconic, then within about 100 ms it goes back to Normal with no user action. The app itself appears to un-minimize the window.
The behavior is intermittent. In a later test the window stayed minimized. It may be linked to app activity, such as a Claude Code session streaming a reply or running tools.
~/.config/Claude/logs/main.log has nothing relevant.

What Should Happen?
