What were you trying to do?

Work on my own private repositories from a cloud session that runs inside a claude.ai chat Project ("Agent Hub"), linked to my computer through the Claude desktop app. The session clones three repositories I own (laurenlev10/lauren-agent-infra, laurenlev10/lauren-agent-hub-data, laurenlev10/themakeupblowout-events), edits files, then needs to git push and dispatch a GitHub Actions workflow (workflow_dispatch via the REST API) from the same session.

GitHub side is fully set up and verified on claude.ai/customize/connectors/integration-github: GitHub account connected, Claude GitHub App installed, and "Check repository status" reports "Claude Code cloud sessions can work in <repo>" for all three repositories.

Ask: either (a) let a chat-Project cloud session use the repositories the Claude GitHub App is installed on as its session sources (or expose a way to add them), or (b) enable the new Claude Code Projects (claude.ai/code Projects, with Project repositories) for this account, which is the documented home for this workflow. Plan: Max. Joined the Projects waitlist today. claude.ai/code shows no Projects entry and claude.ai/code/projects/browse returns "Page not found".

What happened instead?

From the chat-Project cloud session:

  1. git clone through the session proxy: works (read-only git is fine).
  2. git push (through the proxy, credentials via credential helper, no token in URL):

remote: access denied by the git proxy: laurenlev10/<repo> is not in this session's authorized repository set, so the proxy will not inject a credential for it. To fix, add the repository to the session's sources. -> HTTP 403.

  1. Any repos/laurenlev10/<repo>/... REST call, including POST .../actions/workflows/<id>/dispatches:

{"message":"GitHub access to this repository is not enabled for this session. Use add_repo to request access. ..."} -> HTTP 403. The add_repo tool does not exist in the session (ToolSearch finds nothing), and a chat Project has no UI to configure session sources.

  1. The same three repositories work normally in a claude.ai/code cloud session where they are selected via the repository picker: clone, push and API all succeed without a token.
  2. A GitHub MCP connector is not available in the chat-Project session either (ListConnectors / registry search return no GitHub connector), so there is no non-git write path.

Net effect: a session started from a chat Project can read my repositories but has no supported way to write to them or trigger workflows, even though the Claude GitHub App is installed on all of them and the connector page confirms access. Related: #84581, #96075, #92188, #76248.

Date observed: 2026-09-23 (repeated across multiple sessions on 2026-09-22 and 2026-09-23). Client: claude.ai web + Claude Desktop (Windows).
