Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

When I use Claude Code in any Windows terminal (cmd, pwsh), after a while (no compact required to reach this state), the lines become corrupted, as if several lines were trying to be written atop of each other. Also a lot of times the cli history visually changes. My messages get removed, Claude's messages get altered. According to Claude, the .json conversation history remains correct, so it seems to be a cli display bug that was introduced recently, approx 7-21 days ago.

What Should Happen?

CLI should retain history AS IT WAS WRITTEN.

No errors...

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Update to latest version of Claude Code CLI, and use it in WIndows 11 terminal (cmd, or pwsh)
  2. Start working on coding tasks that require Bash scripts
  3. Have a lot of back and forth (but still nowhere near the limit of compacting)
  4. Observe that the CLI visual history does not match what was actually said and done by both parties

Additional Information

I have noticed this when I switched from Working from home to in-office which was a different computer, so at first I thought it was devide-related, but then when I went home and continued working from home I observed the same, so unfortunately this is not a device-bound issue.
