Problem Statement
Please Add precise timer for Session Reset time.
In the example i have reset in 3h 26 minutes while VS Code extension show 3h.
Proposed Solution
Claude.ai has precise timer so why frustrate users in other IDE?
It mush be 3h 26m instead (in every window where it shows,
for e.g.: in message field, in Usage tab, in Usage popup and so on).

Still happening in the VS Code extension 2.1.280. I tracked down the cause and patched it locally.
Cause: the reset countdown is built by two formatters in
webview/index.js. Both compute whole hours/days withMath.floorand return only that unit, dropping the remainder. Minified names from 2.1.280:gS(): rate-limit banner (· resets in …) and usage barsI35(): usage bars in the account panel| Time left | Shown | Expected |
|---|---|---|
| 1h 59m | in 1h | in 1h 59m |
| 23h 59m | in 23h | in 23h 59m |
| 1d 23h | in 1d | in 1d 23h |
Fix: append the next unit down when it isn't zero.
gS(): replacewith
I35(): replacewith
With this applied locally, 1h 59m shows as "in 1h 59m" and exact values like "in 1h" / "in 3d" are unchanged. The CLI already has a formatter that outputs
Xh Ym, so reusing that in the webview would also work.Still happening in the VS Code extension 2.1.283
Repaired myself with your instruction. Thanks alot.
Need to be patched by Anthropic aswell.
Until the extension shows minutes, claude.ai → Settings → Usage has the exact countdown. In the terminal CLI, the statusLine JSON also exposes
rate_limits.five_hour.resets_at(a timestamp), which a status-line script can format as hours and minutes. If you're on macOS, I built AIQuotaBar (disclosure: I'm the author), a free, open-source menu bar app that shows the Claude 5-hour and weekly limits with reset countdowns, so the timer is visible whichever editor you're in. macOS only: https://github.com/yagcioglutoprak/AIQuotaBar
