Environment:

  • Claude Code desktop app (Code tab), Windows 11 Pro
  • Not using Windows Voice Typing, Phone Link, or any other dictation/STT software
  • No other device/session connected via Remote Control

Description:
After sending a message, the message compose box sometimes does not fully clear. When I then start typing my next message, the text of the previously sent message gets re-inserted into the box, appended after whatever I'd already typed - rather than the box staying empty/clean.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Send a message normally (type text, press Enter).
  2. Start typing a new message.
  3. Observe: the previous message's full text appears in the compose box, tacked on after the new text I'd typed - e.g. I typed "enter" as a new message, and the box became "enter. Number one, no, I do not. Number two, no, it is not. Three, no, there is none. The sound is a bit of a pop." (the exact content of my prior sent message).

Expected behavior: After sending, the compose box should be empty and stay empty until I type new content.

Actual behavior: The previous message's text reappears in the box, merged with newly typed text, and must be manually selected and deleted - it does not clear on its own or get replaced by continued typing.

Additional notes:

  • A short "pop" sound plays around when this happens, but this appears to be the normal message-sent notification sound, not related to any audio/mic feedback.
  • Ruled out: Windows Voice Typing, Phone Link/Your Phone sync, third-party dictation software, other Claude Code sessions/devices connected via Remote Control.
