Preflight

  • Searched label:enhancement and the Remote Control issues. The closest existing ones are #87877 (no way to archive/clean up disconnected sessions) and #81299 (same-name re-registration should supersede the old entry). Both ask for the list to get shorter. This request is the complementary, purely client-side one: let me filter the list I already have by connection state, which helps even when the dead entries stay.
  • Single feature request: one filter, three surfaces (web, desktop, mobile).

Problem Statement

On claude.ai/code — in the web app, in the Claude desktop app's Code tab, and in the Claude Android app — the session list is dominated by dead local sessions. Every Claude Code session I start on my Mac with Remote Control registers a new entry (localhost-floofy-hamming, localhost-zesty-naur, …). When the terminal is closed, the entry stays forever as a disconnected thread.

I run a lot of local sessions (10–15 concurrently, many more over a week), so within days the list is ~40 entries of which a handful are actually live. To reach a session I can still talk to, I have to scroll past a long tail of sessions that are dead, that I cannot resume, and that I have no interest in ever reading again. If a session has disconnected, it is done — I don't want to reopen it, I just don't want to see it.

The Android app is the worst case: it has filters for "waiting for approval", for reviews, and for other categories, but no filter for "still connected" — the one distinction that decides whether an entry is usable at all. On phone screens the connected sessions are often below several screens of dead ones.

Proposed Solution

Expose the connection state that the UI already knows about as a first-class filter and sort key, on all three surfaces:

  1. A "Connected" / "Active now" filter next to the existing Recents filters (web, desktop, and — importantly — the Android app, which today has no such option).
  2. Ideally make it sticky, so the list opens filtered to live sessions and the dead ones are one tap away.
  3. Optionally: group or sort by connection state (connected first, then disconnected), which fixes the scrolling even for users who don't want a filter.

The data is already there — rows render a status, and the client knows whether the bridge is attached. This is a presentation change, not a new capability.

Alternative Solutions

  • Archiving them by hand, which is what I currently do — it is exactly the chore #87877 asks to remove, and it has to be repeated every few days.
  • Auto-archive after N hours offline (#87877) or supersede same-name registrations (#81299) would both shrink the list, and I'd welcome either. They are server-side policy changes, though, and they don't help the case where I do want the old threads kept but out of the way. A filter is independent of both and useful alongside them.
  • Naming sessions manually (--remote-control "<name>") makes entries recognisable, but it doesn't make the list shorter or say which name is live.

Priority

High - Significant impact on productivity

Feature Category

Other (Remote Control / claude.ai + mobile session list)

Use Case Example

  1. I have ~12 Claude Code sessions running locally on my Mac, plus ~30 dead localhost-* entries from the previous days.
  2. From my phone, away from the desk, I want to check on the one session that is mid-refactor and reply to it.
  3. Today: open the Android app, scroll through several screens of dead sessions, guessing from the titles which ones are still attached, and tap one to find out.
  4. With this feature: tap the "Connected" filter, see the ~12 live sessions, pick mine.

The daily cost is small but constant, and it lands precisely at the moment the mobile app is supposed to be fastest — a quick check between other things.

Additional Context

  • Environment: Claude Code v2.1.269 (native install), macOS 15 (Darwin 24.6), Claude Max 20x; Remote Control used from the web app, the macOS desktop app and the Claude Android app.
  • Related: #87877 (archive/clean up disconnected sessions), #81299 (duplicate entries on re-registration), #91239 (list doesn't show which machine a session runs on — same "the list doesn't tell me what I need" family).
