Problem Statement

In the VS Code extension, all messages (user questions and Claude's responses) render in the same visual style. This makes it hard to quickly distinguish where you asked something versus Claude's answer, especially when scrolling through a long conversation. This includes the pinned/highlighted question shown near the scrollbar when scrolling — it also uses a fixed, non-customizable color.

Proposed Solution

Add a setting (either in claudeCode.* VS Code settings or in ~/.claude/settings.json) to let users configure a distinct color for their own questions/messages throughout the conversation — not just the pinned one shown during scroll. The exact visual treatment (text color, background highlight, left border, etc.) could be left flexible, similar to what was requested in #42685 and #25366 for the CLI's user input highlighting.
