Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

After the Claude desktop app closed unexpectedly on its own, all my previous Claude Code sessions/projects disappeared upon logging back in. Regular chat conversations (non-Code) remain intact — only Claude Code sessions are missing.

I checked locally before reporting:

  • Session listing via the app itself (active + archived) returns no prior sessions.
  • %APPDATA%\Claude\claude-code-sessions\ only contains the folder for the current (new) session — no folders remain for last night's sessions.
  • %APPDATA%\Claude\Crashpad\reports\ is empty — no crash dump was generated.
  • %APPDATA%\Claude\logs\ is empty.
  • No other Claude-related data folders on disk (Claude-Data, Claude-3p) contain session data.

App version: 1.52386.0
OS: Windows 11 Pro 10.0.26200
Locale: pt-BR

What Should Happen?

Claude Code sessions/projects should persist across an unexpected app close and relogin, or at minimum be recoverable from a server-side backup tied to the account..

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Was using Claude Code normally last night (2026-09-10), with several active sessions/projects.
  2. The app closed on its own, not manually closed by me.
  3. Upon reopening and logging back in, none of the previous sessions/projects appeared in the sidebar.

I could not reproduce this deterministically — it was an unexpected close, not an intentional action.
