Claude Desktop crashes with SIGSEGV on every launch on Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS (glib/libgio 2.88.0-1). Confirmed via version bisection against the official apt repo (downloads.claude.ai/claude-desktop/apt/stable):

| Version | Result |
|---|---|
| 1.17180.0 | works |
| 1.34493.1 | works |
| 1.37937.0 / .1 | crashes |
| 1.40609.1 | crashes |
| 1.46388.2 (latest) | crashes |

Crash signature (gdb, no debuginfod available to symbolicate further):

Thread 1 "claude-desktop" received signal SIGSEGV
#0  0x... in ?? ()
#1-7 in libgio-2.0.so.0 (GDBus async dispatch region)
#8-10 g_main_context_iteration() in libglib-2.0.so.0

Ruled out as causes: sandbox/AppArmor config (crashes with --no-sandbox too), competing Secret Service D-Bus providers (crashes even with none running), appmenu-gtk-module (not loaded in the crashing process), --password-store=basic.

A near-identical report exists for ChatGPT Desktop (also Electron) on the same Ubuntu 26.04.1 build, also traced to libgio/GDBus and unresolved: https://community.openai.com/t/chatgpt-desktop-segfaults-on-launch-on-ubuntu-26-04-1-crash-traced-to-libgio-gdbus-not-a-config-or-keyring-issue/1394929 — suggests a shared Electron/Chromium-vs-glib-2.88 incompatibility rather than an app-specific bug.

Environment: Ubuntu 26.04.1 LTS, glib 2.88.0-1, KDE Plasma via xrdp, X11.

Workaround: pin to claude-desktop=1.34493.1 + apt-mark hold.
