Claude in Chrome extension shows installed but tabs_context reports "not connected" (Cowork session)

Extension is installed (Chrome Web Store shows "Remove from Chrome", not "Add to Chrome") and I'm signed into claude.ai with the account matching my Cowork session (jdkrolle@gmail.com).
Steps tried, in order, none resolved it:
- Closed all Chrome windows and reopened
- Confirmed extension installed via Web Store listing
- Fully quit Chrome (Cmd+Q) and relaunched
- Checked/toggled the Chrome connector in Claude desktop app Settings
Expected: tabs_context_mcp call from the Cowork session should connect to the extension.
Actual: consistently returns "Browser extension is not connected" with no change across all of the above.
Platform: macOS, Chrome desktop, Claude desktop app (Cowork).
