[BUG] Desktop slash menu shows only claude.ai account skills — getSupportedCommands called with sessionId=undefined, hijacks typed skill names

Summary

The Desktop app's / slash menu shows only claude.ai account-level skills (the anthropic-skills bundle plus skills uploaded to the account). All personal skills in ~/.claude/skills/ (860+ in my case, all with valid SKILL.md) and all plugin skills are invisible in the menu, even though they load correctly into the session and Claude can invoke them.

Evidence

~/Library/Logs/Claude/main.log shows the menu being built without a session context every time it opens:

2026-09-01 19:36:43 [info] LocalAgentModeSessions.getSupportedCommands: sessionId=undefined, cwd=undefined

With no sessionId/cwd, the command list can only contain account-level skills — which matches exactly what the menu displays. No failed to pass validation errors appear in any Desktop log, so this is not the plugin-metadata schema-validation variant reported elsewhere.

Harmful side effect

Because the menu shows only one custom skill, a typed skill name gets hijacked: typing /copy-formulas (a valid personal skill) and pressing enter invoked the single highlighted menu row (anthropic-skills:ste) with the literal text /copy-formulas passed as its arguments. The intended skill never ran and an unrelated skill ran instead.

Environment

  • Claude Desktop: 1.40609.0 (macOS, Darwin 24.6.0, Apple Silicon)
  • Bundled harness: Claude Code 2.1.247 (~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude-code/2.1.247/)
  • Terminal CLI 2.1.252 is unaffected — its / autocomplete shows everything
  • Skills verified present and valid: 862 dirs with SKILL.md under ~/.claude/skills/ (mix of real dirs and symlinks), plus ~20 enabled plugins

Expected

The / menu lists user-invocable skills from ~/.claude/skills/, project .claude/skills/, and enabled plugins, as the terminal CLI does.

Actual

Menu lists only built-ins + claude.ai account skills. getSupportedCommands is invoked with sessionId=undefined, cwd=undefined.
