[Bug] ESC key does not close `/status` and `/mcp` popup windows, blocking session interaction

Bug Description
when I run /status, esc doesn't exit the pop-up status/usage page. This is causing my background sessions to get nuked because even when I close the app and re-open the app and session, the status pane is still open but still not close-able.

Some more details:

• Experiencing this when opening a bg session in cmux or iTerm2.
• Experiencing it when re-opening existing bg sessions as well as when creating new sessions.
• Same behavior happens when I run /mcp -- esc doesn't close the window, so I can't return to the session.
