[BUG] Claude Desktop 1.34493.1.0 (Windows 11, MSIX) — silent crashes, minidumps written but zero log output

What's Wrong?

Two crashes on 2026-08-21, both after the 08-20 auto-update:

Near-identical dump sizes suggest a deterministic failure path.

KEY ANOMALY: %APPDATA%\Claude\logs has ZERO writes for 08-21.
main.log last write = 2026-08-20 18:00:47 (the stealth-update quit).
The app ran and crashed twice on 08-21 but wrote no log at all,
while Crashpad still produced dumps.

Timeline:
07-30 ~ 08-01 earlier incident, Event ID 7034 (CoworkVMService / DisplayName "Claude")
08-01 ~ 08-20 20 days fully stable
08-20 18:00:47 [stealth-update] auto-update to 1.34493.1.0
08-21 two crashes

Only [error] in main.log before the crashes:

Environment:
Windows 11, MSIX Claude_pzs8sxrjxfjjc, version 1.34493.1.0
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4070 SUPER, single GPU (no hybrid graphics)
RAM 64GB; at crash app tree_rss 2020MB, system free 32GB

Ruled out:

• GPU driver updated 595.95 -> 610.88, crash persists
• sfc /scannow clean; vmcompute/hns/HvHost all Running
• Get-AppxPackage Status Ok; service binary path matches installed version
• Full reinstall (07-31) and package Repair (08-01) — both recurred
• chrome-native-host.exe local copy matches package version
• Not memory pressure, not disk, not antivirus (Bitdefender)
