[BUG] Claude Desktop hangs (not crashes) when opening Settings > General — blocks enabling Computer Use

What's Wrong?

Opening Settings > General in Claude Desktop causes the app window to freeze in place (unresponsive, no beachball recovery) rather than terminating outright. The app has to be force-quit to recover. Because Settings > General is the only place to toggle Computer Use on, this makes it impossible to enable that feature at all.

This appears to match a previously reported and closed issue (#54872, "Claude Desktop freezes completely when Computer Use (Teach Mode / Claude in Chrome) is initiated"), which was closed as stale without a resolution. Filing this as it is still reproducible.

What Should Happen?

Settings > General opens normally without freezing the app window, and the Computer Use toggle can be enabled.

Error Messages/Logs

No crash report is generated. Checked ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ for Claude entries and checked Console.app's Crash Reports section — nothing found in either place, consistent with this being a hang rather than a process crash.

Steps to Reproduce

Open Claude Desktop on macOS. Click into Settings, then General. The app window freezes in place (unresponsive) instead of showing the General settings pane. Force-quit is required to recover.

Already tried, issue persists in all cases: updated to the latest available Claude Desktop build; fully quit and relaunched the app; cleared local app state by renaming ~/Library/Application Support/Claude and ~/Library/Caches/Claude then relaunching (effectively a fresh install).
