Preserve panel layout across chats/threads in Claude Desktop (Claude Code)

Problem

In Claude Code inside the Claude Desktop app, the panel layout resets when I start a new thread / switch to a new chat. Panels I had open (e.g. the Files tree, editor pane) and their arrangement do not carry over, so I have to set the layout up again for every new conversation.

Request

Persist the panel layout as a workspace-level preference, not per-thread: when I open a new chat or switch threads, keep the same panels open and in the same arrangement I last used. Ideally also across app restarts.

Claude Desktop app (macOS), Claude Code.
