Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing requests and this feature hasn't been requested yet
  • [x] This is a single feature request (not multiple features)

Problem Statement

When running many sessions in claude agents it becomes difficult to find the one you want, I find myself scanning the list looking for the agent that opened PR #373 or was about 'inngest' - that kind of thing.

Proposed Solution

Elementary free text search of agent names, and ideally even session content or goals would be excellent

Alternative Solutions

Priority

High - Significant impact on productivity

Feature Category

Interactive mode (TUI)

Use Case Example

The first thing that I did when getting claude agents was process a 40-item security review I'd generated as 40 discrete sessions, this saves me working through them one at a time and increases my productivity.

This is pretty good, although I'd also like to be able to disable mouse clicking (but not mouse scroll) as it's annoying to click back into the TUI and to accidentally open a session with no alternative dead-zone to click, or way to disable it. The next biggest frustration is being unable to quickly find sessions that were doing some work and are now ready amidst the other 40 sessions that are waiting for my input.

NB: Repost of an auto-closed issue, for the second time - https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/69010, originally https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/issues/60143. It'd be easier if you could just make the bot reopen, or not close issues that nobody has triaged.

Good news — claude agents already has this. Just start typing in the input at the bottom and the list filters live instead of dispatching:

  • plain text matches session names, goals, and recent output (e.g. inngest)
  • #373 or a PR URL jumps to the session working on that PR
  • s:needs / s:blocked shows only sessions waiting on you; s:working, s:done etc. also work
  • a:<name> filters by agent

Docs: https://code.claude.com/docs/en/agent-view#filter-sessions

The mouse-click note is a separate ask — if it's still bothering you, please open it as its own issue so it can be tracked. Closing this one as available.

thanks @bcherny - agreed that s:* and precise (not partial) PR number searches work fine. I don't get anything for a:* or free text typing - is the documentation incorrect? Examples:

Exact match session name (AKA 'agent name' but I'm not really sure that's how anyone uses this!) - with free text:

Attempts to match session name with a:* with and without quotes:

Attempting to match by session summary rather than session name:
