Lately Claude Code does not find ANY results while using its search tool. This can be for simple terms like "backup". It iterates over and over finding 0 results. If I ask it to use bash and grep, it finds stuff immediately. It seems the search tool is broken.

Ripgrep was suddenly not installed, but Claude did not tell me.
Claude code should really throw a warning of some kind if ripgrep is not installed.
This is insane that it doesn't throw an error when rg is not installed
Same here. I even have ripgrep installed, but it's not able to find it (how hard can it be to check $PATH ??)
But it could at least have the decency to tell me it can't use ripgrep
