Bug Description
Fable 5 on Claude Code CLI return this message: Switch to Fable 5? Fable 5 runs on usage credits, purchased separately from your plan. You don't have usage credits yet. 1. Set up usage credits on claude.ai ❯ 2. No, keep my current model

On Claude Desktop Fable 5 is open normally, only claude CLI i'm reporting this bug. My plan is Claude Max 20x, version system on CLI v2.1.216

Sorry but did you even bother to search the open issues. There are at least half a dozen

do you have DISABLE_TELEMETRY turned on? switch it off and restart claude, eventually re-login

Filing a report with full environment details is exactly what issue trackers are for. If maintainers consider it a duplicate, they'll mark it as such — that's their call, not ours. In the meantime, the repro info here stands on its own.

I guess you didn't bother to even read the instructions:

Before submitting, please check: ... This issue hasn't already been reported by searching [existing issues]

p.s. your report is nowhere close to "full" details (the instructions of what to include are quite clear)

Sorry, but, if helping isn't the goal here, I'd invite you to go deliver this same lecture on the remaining half-dozen duplicates you cited — they're presumably just as deserving, and you clearly know where they are. Thanks for the help, :)

I managed to fix it using the following method:

I signed out of and back into my account on Claude Desktop and used the Fable 5 model to perform a task without any CLI terminal open; when I opened the CLI again, the model was available.
