You've hit your session limit · resets 7:20pm (Asia/Seoul)
Bug Description
Subject: Claude Code (Max) blocked by false "session limit reached" — usage shows 1%
Hi,
Claude Code is blocking all input with "You've hit your session limit · resets 7:20pm (Asia/Seoul)", but my actual usage is nearly empty. The enforcement and the displayed usage clearly disagree, and the same account works normally on claude.ai at the same time.
Account / environment
- Plan: Claude Max
- Email: -
- Login method (confirmed in /status): Claude Max account
- Claude Code version: 2.1.216
- OS: macOS
- Model: Opus 4.8 with 1M context
- Session ID: 02d9e465-053b-40da-9222-14bcd27a2899
Symptom
- Every prompt is blocked with "You've hit your session limit · resets 7:20pm".
- /usage shows Current session: 1% used, Current week: 66% used.
- The reset time in the block message (7:20pm) does not match the /usage panel (session resets 7:29pm).
- Blocking persists regardless of model — I tried Sonnet 5 and Opus 4.8, both blocked identically.
- claude.ai web works normally on the same account at the same time.
Troubleshooting already performed (all completed, none resolved it)
- /logout then /login
- Updated Claude Code to latest (2.1.216)
- Switched models (/model → Sonnet 5, then Opus 4.8)
- Fully killed and restarted the process (pkill -f claude, new terminal)
- Checked environment variables:
env | grep -i anthropicreturns nothing (no ANTHROPIC_API_KEY / ANTHROPIC_AUTH_TOKEN / ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL)
Additional notes
- No incident is listed on your status page for today (Jul 21).
- This looks similar to the Jul 20 incident "Fable 5 requiring usage credits on Max plans." My Claude Code start screen shows the Fable 5 promotional banner, and I had long-running background/loop sessions earlier.
Since all local diagnostics are clean, this appears to be a server-side limit-tracking issue on my account rather than a genuine limit. Could you please check the server-side session/limit state for this account and reset it if it is stuck? Happy to provide logs or the session ID output on request.
Thanks,
-
