Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

In recent versions of Claude for Mac, plugin/skill management per project (under "Code") is not working correctly:

1) When a specific project is selected and I then open Settings > Customize > Plugins, the plugin configuration shown belongs to a different project than the one currently selected, not the active one.

2) More seriously: when clicking the "+" button in the message composer for any project and hovering over "Plugins", the submenu does not show the plugins/skills actually configured for that specific project. Instead it shows duplicated entries (the same plugin listed twice) and/or configurations belonging to other, seemingly random projects.

What Should Happen?

Opening Settings > Customize > Plugins for a selected project should show only the plugins/skills actually associated with that specific project, with no duplicate entries and no data leaking in from other projects.

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Claude for Mac and select a specific project from the sessions list (e.g. a project named "Project A").
  2. Go to Settings > Customize > Plugins.
  3. Observe that the plugin configuration shown corresponds to a different project (e.g. "Project B") instead of the selected "Project A".
  4. Alternatively, in a chat session that belongs to a project, click the "+" button next to the message input box, then hover over/click "Plugins".
  5. Observe that the submenu shows duplicated plugin entries (the same plugin name appearing twice) and/or plugins/skills belonging to unrelated projects, instead of the correct configuration for the current project.

Is this a regression?

Yes, this worked in a previous version

Last Working Version

Exact version unknown - worked correctly until approximately 4 releases before the current version (1.22209.3, build babe11)

Claude Code Version

N/A - this is the Claude Desktop app for Mac (see "About": version 1.22209.3, build babe11), not the Claude Code CLI

Platform

Anthropic API

Operating System

macOS

Terminal/Shell

Other

Additional Information

This is a Claude Desktop (Claude for Mac) UI bug in the project-level Plugins/Skills feature under "Code", not a Claude Code CLI issue. Screenshots showing the exact behavior (project list, mismatched Plugins panel, duplicated entries in the "+" menu, and the app version) are available and can be attached/shared on request. Project and plugin names in this report have been generalized/anonymized.
