[Feature Request] Mid-cycle upgrade should rescale weekly allowance immediately, not at next reset
Bug Description
The Fable 5 “up to 50% of weekly limit until July 7” promo has a trap for the exact users it’s meant to serve.
A Max 5x user who wants more Fable will naturally upgrade to 20x mid-week to get it — but the weekly allowance rescales only at the next reset, and the Fable promo expires July 7, so if the reset lands after the 7th the upgrade delivers no extra Fable at all during the window. Meanwhile the user pays $100/mo more for Opus/Sonnet headroom they may never have needed (I never hit 5x limits on Opus).
Fix: either rescale the current period on a mid-cycle upgrade, or state plainly at upgrade time that the new weekly limit starts next reset. As it stands, upgrading during the promo is worse than useless for its intended purpose.
For context: I evaluated Fable vs Opus output directly and strongly prefer Fable — I’m not a casual user reaching for the shiny thing, and losing affordable Fable access is what would push me to split spend to OpenAI.
Note its now July 7th, and I prematurely lost access to Fable yesterday on the 6th. I am not trying to get my extra $100 back any longer, even though I feel cheated, but I will likely lean in on trying to drop back to $100 5x for Anthropic and give $100 a month to Google at this point due to issues with and loss of access to Fable 5, even though I do not see a competitor on the landscape today. I effectively do not have the income required to continue using it.
