[FEATURE] Feature request: a Claude Family plan (household tier, Claude Code for every member)

What I'm using

I use Claude Code every day - the CLI in the terminal, several MCP servers, a
.claude/ config, and CLAUDE.md project memory. I am a Claude Max subscriber and
a full-stack developer with 25+ years in the field. This request is about how
Claude Code is licensed to a household, which today has no good option.

The gap

The plan ladder runs Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise. Everything at Max and
below is single-person. Team is the next rung, but it starts at five seats and is
built for companies (SSO, central billing, admin governance) that a household
will never use. There is no tier for a family that wants Claude Code for more
than one person - a spouse, and kids learning to code in the terminal. Today my
only options are to stack full-price individual seats or masquerade as a
five-person business. Both are the wrong shape.

The ask

A Claude Family tier, sitting between Max and Team, where:

  • One organizer plus up to five members share a single bill.
  • Every member gets their own Claude Code access (CLI, MCP, the works) - a

household of builders is first-class.

  • Each member stays fully private: separate chat history, projects, and memory,

not Team's shared workspace.

  • Pricing sits meaningfully below stacking that many individual seats.
  • Optional parental and teen controls for minor accounts.
  • None of the business plumbing: no five-seat minimum, no SSO, no admin console.

Why it fits Claude Code specifically

The households most likely to want this are the ones already living in Claude
Code: a developer parent who wants the same terminal-native AI in front of a
partner and kids picking up their first language. Making Claude Code a per-member
entitlement of a family plan is the natural way to grow the next generation of
Claude Code users inside the households that already trust it.

Why it fits the mission

A family tier is the natural home for age-appropriate defaults and real parental
controls - the safe, default AI a parent would actually hand their kids. No other
lab is better placed to own that.

Not the same as Team

Team solves for organizations: identity, governance, and compliance. A Family
tier solves for households: shared economics, per-member privacy, and youth
safety. Different products, different buyers, and the gap between them is where a
lot of loyal Claude Code users are standing right now.

I would upgrade the day it launches.
