[BUG] Claude Code for Mac Desktop App Won't Hide Voluminous Internal Thinking boxes

Open 💬 0 comments Opened Jul 6, 2026 by msg43

Preflight Checklist

  • [x] I have searched existing issues and this hasn't been reported yet
  • [x] This is a single bug report (please file separate reports for different bugs)
  • [x] I am using the latest version of Claude Code

What's Wrong?

When I ask a question, I get back pages and pages of internal thinking. Each script or internal dialogue has a carrot next to the header, allowing you to roll it up. But that carrot does not work. So in order to read an answer to a short question I often have to scroll through 10 pages of internal dialogue.

What Should Happen?

I should type in a prompt and receive a response and in between the two there should be a small line with the opportunity to expand and see some of the internal thinking.

Error Messages/Logs

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Type anything in the prompt.
  2. Receive an answer only after pages and pages of internal Scripts.
