[Bug][cyber] Safety block fired on routine repo audit for exposed secrets/API keys before making it public (req_011CckviaXK6XpwdUja4jzM4)
Triage: kind cyber · domain general · flagging model Opus 4.8 · severity session-halted (blocked authorized work) · reproducible: yes — server-side via the Request ID(s) below
Type: Cybersecurity safety-filter false positive · Work domain (heuristic): general
Why this is a false positive
The blocked message asked the assistant to scan the user's own repository for accidentally committed secrets and PII prior to a public release, and to clean up the README — a standard pre-publish hygiene check, not an attack or exploit request. This is defensive security work explicitly named in Anthropic's own usage policies as permitted (finding and remediating leaked credentials in owned code), yet the topical filter halted the entire session, blocking unrelated in-progress work like the README update as collateral damage.
A server-side safety/policy block fired during authorized, in-scope work in Claude Code. Filing as a false positive. Recurred 1× across 1 session(s); first seen 2026-07-06T14:02:16.536Z.
