Bug Description
Fable 5 appears as selectable in Claude Code v2.1.197 under my Claude Max account, but every message fails with:
“Claude Fable 5 is currently unavailable. Learn more: https://www.anthropic.com/news/fable-mythos-access”
My account:
- Plan: Claude Max
- Country/account region: Brazil
- Claude Code: v2.1.197
- Install: npm-global
- Platform: darwin-arm64
- Auth method: claude.ai
- Model shown in UI: Fable 5 · Claude Max
The June 30 Anthropic post says Fable 5 should be available starting July 1 globally on Claude Code for Max users.

Fix = launch via - "claude --model claude-fable-5"
You have to put the full model ID in once (Just leaving this here if anyone else needs to know what the fix for me was)
Thanks @Apollo1113 for your suggestion, it make it selected in my status line, but when I check it with /model it appears selected but disabled, look at the status line and the /model command output:
